Traveling with kids isn’t the easiest. Long drives, cramped cars and the overall excitement to get where you’re going can wear anyone down. Thankfully, with today’s technology your kids can stay entertained and you can avoid the dreaded, “are we there yet?” question every five minutes! Read on to learn some of our favorite roadtrip activities and games.
License Plate Checklist
Make a list of all 50 states and print one out for each child. As they find license plates from each state have them check it off. Set a time limit. Once the time is up the first person to have the most states checked gets a prize.
Glow Sticks
This isn’t really a game, but if you’re going to be traveling while the sun is down pack some glow sticks and glow necklaces. The kids will have fun playing with them.
Hot Seat
Give each person the opportunity to be interviewed by the other passengers in the car. This is a great way for kids to learn more about mom and dad and the family to bond.
Pictures
Give each child a cheap disposable camera or maybe old digital camera (they’re pretty cheap now) and allow them to photograph the trip from their own perspective. You’d be surprised at what they see that you don’t.
Drawing
Purchase window markers and let the kids use the windows as a canvass. Just remember to ensure they’re old enough to stay on the window and not on the seats. If they do draw on the seats a little Spot Shot should get the stain out.
